The band Twisted Trail materialized through the dedication and resolve of a raw, yet talented individual trying to navigate the narrow channels of stardom. Kayla Mckinney is the prized vocalist and lead musician of the power house that is Twisted Trail. It all began after family and friends encouraged Kayla to leap forward, pipes blazing! In 2008 she joined the first group of players that would become TT in a basement in Johnson City, TN. Kayla drove from Asheville once a week to rehearse and write with the group, which eventually absolved due to the distance involved. Twisted Trail was re-assembled as Kayla pressed on, determined to hand pick the finest musicians that WNC could offer. In just three months she pulled a band together, and began performing in and around the mountains of North Carolina. Kayla paired rock with country to please a wide audience, utilizing her talent to proliferate her creation. Not only is Kayla entertaining, her vocal personality captures music that both men and women enjoy. As a result, Kayla has become one of the busiest, and desired performers in the region. The name Twisted Trail was chosen because it embodies her vision, it describes both a genre and a writing style- rockNcountry. Kayla's journey has filtered through many rock stars to arrive at the current line-up, and now it seems the possibilities are endless. In 2013 the Trail is writing original music, and adding songs to their already massive set list.
